Small Moments

For all my teacher friends out there, this is NOT a post about writing workshop, don't let the title fool ya.  The small moments I'm talking about, are the little things around my house that I'm loving right now.  I also went to Target and Ikea in the past couple of days and I snapped some photos of things that I was loving there as well.  So let's get to it...

I snatched up this sweet red basket from Homegoods because it matched Charley's room perfectly.  Nine bucks?  Yes, please.

This is my new ceramic fox friend that now lives in our half bathroom.  He was too cute to pass up.

I'm so tire of our mail laying on our kitchen counter.  I decided to add this woven basket tray to catch all of our mail that piles up day after day.  It just seems so much cleaner if the mess is contained in a basket.  I'd like a basket for everything, really.

And now for the window shopping...

As I looked through the pics I took, I noticed a common theme.  All of the items were rustic and cozy with lots of warmth and texture.  I would like our family room to have that same feel, and eventually I'll head in that direction.  I know in the past few months I've played around with the colors and items in our family room, but do I dare say that I'm not in love with it???  When I went to the Books by the Banks Festival last Saturday, I saw Sherry and John from Young House Love speak about nine lessons they learned in terms of DIY.  Sherry said something that stood out to me and I think it's so true.  If you don't love something about your house, you won't get anywhere if you do nothing.  Anything you do to change it will get you closer to loving it, even if what you did wasn't the right thing.  So all of the little things I've done to change parts of my house are steps closer to getting me to where I want to be.  Did you hear that, B.J.?  Sometimes he thinks I'm crazy when it comes to changing things in our house.

Buuuuut anyway, we were shopping, weren't we?

I love this magazine holder?  basket?  man purse?(jk) from Target.  Whatever it is, I like it.

And this yellow hedgehog candle?  I mean, come on, he's so cute.

Mmmm, grey and yellow and turquoise, how I love thee.

Glass water bottle, I hope to see you soon on my kitchen table.

Now moving on to Ikea.  B.J. and I really want to change out our light fixtures in our kitchen/eat-in kitchen area.  I love the industrial look of this one.  And it's only 30 bucks!

I spotted this blue metal cart in the Ikea catalog a while back.  I'm pretty sure Charley needs this in a couple years to store her art supplies, don't you?

Well, that's all for now.  I'll keep you posted on whether or not any of those items actually make it into my house.  If all goes as planned this weekend, I'll be back next week to share a Pay it Forward/Pinterest Challenge project.  Say whaaaaat?
