Back to School

It's that time of year again...back to school!  I've been off since March with my baby, Charley, so it's definitely an adjustment to start thinking about a classroom full of kindergarteners.  And to top it off, I switched school districts which means a lot of packing, moving and unpacking has been going on lately.  I rented a truck to get my things from one school to the next because I had SO MUCH stuff.  Why are teachers such packrats?  I was a bit overwhelemed but thank goodness I had lots of help.  If I'm a little M.I.A. in the near future, just know I'm working on a big project...my classroom.  Here are a few pictures that show what I've been up to...
Here's my new classroom after I cleared it out and started tentatively rearranging the furniture.

New classroom before

New classroom before-notice the brightly colored bulletin boards?

Those quickly changed to black with the help of B.J. and my mother-in-law, Diane.

The black bulletin boards give it a much cleaner, calmer feeling and they will be a great back drop for the students' work.

I love this gem that used to hold gardening supplies in my mom's garage once upon a time.  Here's what it looked like before I spray painted it a light grayish color and covered the doors with a light yellow fabric.

This is the meeting area in progress.  There's the corner cabinet with it's fresh, new look!

So that's what's been keeping me busy the past week or so.  Ready or not, here they come! Pin It
