Cheers to Art

B.J. gave me a gift certificate to a fun place called Cheers to Art for Christmas and we finally got around to using it last night.  It's a cute little art studio that has a different featured paiting each night.  An instructor goes step by step and everyone follows along, painting their own canvases, all while enjoying some beer or wine and listening to music.  The amazing part about it is no prior skill is required and you still walk out of there with a painting that actually looks like the one the artist did!  So anyway, we hadn't gone until last night because we were waiting to enjoy the cheers part of Cheers to Art (I was pregnant at Christmas time).  It was the perfect date night and we will definitely go back.  Even my husband, who would not consider himself artistic in any way, had a blast and is ready to get his paint on again soon.  So this is how it all went down...

The first step (after visiting the bar, getting our aprons on, and filling our palettes up with paint) was to cover our canvas with the color of our choice.  I chose yellow (obviously) and B.J. chose red.

Next we added the abstract branches in the background...

...and more branches in the foreground.

Then finally the little birdies made their way onto our canvases.  I chose to mix teal and white to make a turquiose paint color and B.J. stuck with black.

Here we are with our masterpieces!  I'm pretty sure B.J. has referred to himself as an artist about 10 times since last night and it hasn't even been 24 hours since the paint dried on his canvas, I love it.

Where are these works of art now you ask?

Mine is hanging in the playroom...

and B.J.'s is in Charley's nursery (hanging on preexisting nails so I need to readjust the height).

I can't wait for the next time I have a glass of wine in one hand and a paint brush in the other. Perhaps I will go for my 30th 21st birthday in September.
Cheers! (to art)
